My
educational background has proven to be very beneficial in the field of
Real Estate: In terms of understanding complicated business concepts and
problem solving, conversing with and advising clients on a variety of
subjects and having general knowledge of professions related to Real
Estate such as Law and Accounting.
Languages
My
native language is Danish and I was a Danish Language teacher in Denmark. I
have also studied other languages such as: English, German, Swedish,
Norwegian, French and Latin.
My
language skills are very beneficial in Real Estate in the Multi- Cultural
Canadian Society. Many immigrants are more comfortable conducting business
with a person, who can speak and understand their native language.
Career
Background
My
primary employment experiences prior to Real Estate have been in teaching and
social work in a Residential Treatment Center for Adolescents in Ithaca, New
York. The teaching
and counseling experiences are very helpful in my Real Estate work
letting me better understand the psychological complexities of personalities,
and in the process of matching the right product with the right client and in
negotiating and arbitrating any differences to obtain positive results.
My
family background is in Real Estate. My father was an architect, a developer
and a cabinet maker. I often helped him with a variety of real estate related
tasks from the age of ten. My experience with my father is specifically useful
regarding knowledge of construction, design and the cost of renovation and
construction details for clients.
My
artistic training and skills have been essential in producing specialized and
customized promotional material for each client and each product marketed. I
have my own graphics arts
company, RENEL GRAPHICS. and I produce material with the support of artists
and desk-top publishing, such as my own News Letter: ELIZABETH’S NEWS &
VIEWS.
Community
Activities
I
have lived in the Annex in downtown Toronto since 1972, and I have been an
active member of the Board of The
Annex Resident Association for
several years. I have been in charge of various activities at the Annual Annex
Fall Fair, sponsored and run by the Annex Resident Association for about 25
years. More recently I have been
involved with the Annex Home and Garden Tour, since its beginning 5 years ago.
My principal focus, has been helping to acquire the homes and gardens for the
tours. The proceeds from the tours go to none profit organizations in our
community for capital projects.
I
have also been involved in the Cabbage town Fall festival or the Cabbage Town
Tour of Homes and Gardens every year since its inception.
In
the Eighties I was a member of The Scandinavian
Canadian Business Association.
In
the Nineties I have been a member of The
Danish Women Association.
For
three years I joined the Annual Canadian Ski Marathon
in Quebec. (a 160 km run over two days).
